Hello, dear readers! I’m popping into your inbox after nine months of quiet to tell you about my next publication: a short story in the young adult horror anthology Night of the Living Queers, featuring an all queer, all BIPOC lineup. I’m very proud of the story I wrote (Kirkus called it a “spine-chilling standout” in their review of the anthology!), and I’m very excited to share it with you all when it hits shelves on August 29. Yes, that’s next Tuesday!
To celebrate, I’ll be appearing at one in-person launch event in New York City. The event is at Books of Wonder on Monday, August 28, at 6pm ET, and features NOTLQ editor Shelly Page and contributors Trang Thanh Tran, Maya Gittelman, Kosoko Jackson, and Kalynn Bayron, and me! I would love to see you there!
I have another short story coming in an indie anthology this autumn and will share more about that soon.
And in brief non-writing news, I’ve been doing a lot of cooking (this tomato, corn, and zucchini galette from Deb Perelman’s Smitten Kitchen has appeared many times in my kitchen recently, as have several cakes from the Snacking Cakes cookbook by Yossy Arefi, which I can’t recommend highly enough). I also recently watched Nimona (on Netflix), which was stellar (read the graphic novel by N.D. Stevenson if you haven’t yet!), and read Spear by Nicola Griffith, which hurt my heart in the best way and reminded me why I love books.
All best,
Rebecca
PS: As always, you can order copies of my books from most retailers (my publisher has some handy links if you’re looking), or find them or request them at your local library. Thanks so much for reading. <3
